Forest Takes to the Trail!
Over Thanksgiving Week, JayaMae started her Appaloosa, Forest, under saddle. His best friend, Donovan, led him out for his first trail ride on Friday.
On Saturday, he went out again, for a longer ride with Donovan, Jakob astride, and Winnie as the head mare, leading the way.
JayaMae poses with Forest at the Lookout Point. A perfect gentleman, behaving well on the trail, even at the trot.
My youngest grandson also had his first trail experience, on Winnie, last month.
Winnie gave Asali her extra blanket to help her through the coldest night we've had so far: 25 degrees F. Everyone bedded down happily with grain and yummy California hay!

Hay Winnie!
Thanks for your blanket! It is keeping me warm in this cool Northern California weather. What do you think of all this rain??? I wish it would stop so we can all go riding again... except with you, who's the lead mare??? You or me??? Guess we'll just have to wait and see...
